| How to Get There |
One-level ranch homes are somewhat rare in Anchorage. They are expensive to build, being all roof and foundation. They sprawl all over a lot and the configuration of most lots, even in upscale neighborhoods, does not accommodate a wide house. In older neighborhoods you sometimes find ranch homes, but what comes with older neighborhoods are older homes.
So it is a distinct pleasure to offer a home of this design in a well-respected neighborhood, one that is less than 10 years old. A creation of the John Hagmeier Company, this design was not often built, for reasons of lot availability. Those who have been fortunate enough to live in one of these homes comment on how open the floor plan is, letting in lots of sun where one enjoys a lack of crowding.
This owner added to the original deck. You can spot her bird feeders in the photos and imagine yourself on a summer's evening taking in the western sunshine and enjoying the company of visitors to your family gathering.
The home is 2619 square feet with part of it being a bonus room above the triple garage. The third bath is also up there. The photo below shows an extensive photo sorting project the owner has going on at the moment.
The master suite shows the care and workmanship for which the Hagmeier Company is renowned.
The interior decor is clean and neat and will accommodate a variety of furnishing because of its neutral character. The carpet is very light, the cabinets are all maple, and there are only the most modest and tasteful wallpaper and color accents. Everything has been meticulously maintained.
The owner has no plans to take the fridge and washer-drier. Other kitchen appliances include a wall oven and microwave combination and an island cooktop. The kitchen cabinets include some leaded glass-fronted units in the breakfast area.
As a minor benefit, the property taxes for 2004 will be about half the normal amount because the owner qualifies and has obtained her senior citizen exemption.
