Eaglewood is one of Eagle River's most popular
subdivisions. An easy commute to Anchorage, even easier to Ft.
Richardson and Elmendorf. The neighborhood has mature
landscaping, winding streets, safe cul-de-sacs and a network of
lighted greenbelts and walking/ski trails. A homeowner's
association with modest dues maintains the common areas and
works to improve and maintain neighborhood values. (Their
efforts are credited, in large measure, with the buffering and
exterior appeal of the new Wal-Mart.)
Unlike much of Eaglewood, however, the street
where this home is located is a little enclave of large lots
with no homes on the other side of the street. The lot for this
home, 13,807 sq.ft. altogether, is largely natural landscaping
in back, so there's not much to mow!
The orientation of the home with its many
windows is mostly south. The land slopes away to the south:
there are three levels of sunshine coming in.
Built in 1993, there is generous footage
throughout the home, 3096 sq.ft. living area altogether. It has
five bedrooms on its three levels. The top two floors are like a
traditional two-story with three bedrooms, including the master
suite, upstairs. There are pleasant views of surrounding
mountains and park land from every window. The basement level is
a walk-out into the back yard. Two more bedrooms and a bath down
there, plus generous recreation space: a good location for a
home office or professional or other small business, perhaps.
The main level sports dressy hardwood laminate
flooring. The living-dining areas are under very high ceilings.
The kitchen and nook have a family room area beside them. The
kitchen was recently remodeled with Corion countertops and solid
oak cabinets with many pull-outs. (The entirety of each cabinet
is oak: there is no plywood or composition material in them.)
The 768 sq.ft. garage has a 31 foot deep motor
home bay that is wide enough for you to get in and out of it and
its storage areas on both sides when it's parked inside.
The upgraded heating system consists of six
zones, for comfort to individual taste in every part of the
home. There's even a ventilated cat box area closed off in the
lower level, with a cat door into it.
